Boema Bacoviană (release date : 15/08/2026) is a conceptual post-punk album in which post-punk'er reinterprets the timeless poetry of George Bacovia through a fragmented, dark and ritualistic musical language. Rather than modernizing the poems or transforming them into conventional songs, the album preserves their original verses, allowing the poetry itself to become the narrator while the music unfolds as an extension of Bacovia's emotional universe.
George Bacovia remains one of the defining voices of Romanian literature, combining the refined sensibilities of French Symbolism with the stark vision of early Modernism. His poetry is marked by existential despair, urban decay, profound isolation and the haunting atmosphere that has become synonymous with the term "Bacovian." Through recurring images of winter, autumn, rain, abandoned streets, cemeteries, silence, illness and death, Bacovia transformed ordinary landscapes into psychological states where the external world mirrors the collapse of the inner self.
Boema Bacoviană embraces these themes through hypnotic repetition, restrained narration, long instrumental passages and minimalist arrangements. Instead of traditional verse–chorus structures, the compositions unfold like forgotten rituals or old stories whispered from memory. Silence becomes part of the music, while repetition slowly builds emotional tension without seeking dramatic resolution.
This is not a tribute album in the conventional sense. It is an artistic dialogue across time , where one of Romania's greatest poets meets the language of fragmented post-punk. The poems remain untouched, but their atmosphere is expanded into immersive sonic landscapes that preserve their melancholy while revealing new emotional dimensions.
The album explores solitude not as emptiness, but as a place of reflection; winter not merely as a season, but as a permanent state of mind; and memory as something fragile, slowly dissolving beneath layers of silence and time. Every track invites the listener into abandoned parks, dimly lit streets, empty rooms and snow-covered landscapes where the boundary between dream, memory and reality gradually disappears.
With Boema Bacoviană, post-punk'er continues the exploration of experimental and literary post-punk, creating an album where poetry is not simply accompanied by music - it becomes inseparable from it. The result is a deeply atmospheric journey through one of the darkest and most evocative bodies of work in Romanian literature, reimagined through obsessive rhythms, restrained storytelling and haunting minimalism.
